A Sparrow in Terezin #Giveaway Basket!

I just finished Kristy Cambron’s sophomore novel, A Sparrow in Terezin, and it was wonderful--as good as her first book< The Butterfly and the Violin, which I loved and which you can read my review of here.  Her newest book just released and is on tour so to celebrate, Kristy is giving away a basket of goodies inspired by the book!  Scroll down to the pics and click on either one of them to enter on Facebook.

Bound together across time, two women will discover a powerful connection through one survivor’s story of hope in the darkest days of a war-torn world.

Present Day—With the grand opening of her new art gallery and a fairytale wedding just around the corner, Sera James feels she’s stumbled into a charmed life—until a brutal legal battle against fiancé William Hanover threatens to destroy the perfectly planned future she’s planned before it even begins. Now, after an eleventh-hour wedding ceremony and a callous arrest, William faces a decade in prison for a crime he never committed, and Sera must battle the scathing accusations that threaten her family and any hope for a future.

1942—Kája Makovsky narrowly escaped occupied Prague in 1939, and was forced to leave her half-Jewish family behind. Now a reporter for the Daily Telegraph in England, Kája discovers the terror has followed her across the Channel in the shadowy form of the London Blitz. When she learns Jews are being exterminated by the thousands on the continent, Kája has no choice but to return to her mother city, risking her life to smuggle her family to freedom and peace.

Connecting across a century through one little girl, a Holocaust survivor with a foot in each world, these two women will discover a kinship that springs even in the darkest of times. In this tale of hope and survival, Sera and Kája must cling to the faith that sustains and fight to protect all they hold dear—even if it means placing their own futures on the line.

When Calls the Heart 10 DVD Collector's Edition #Giveaway

I had the opportunity to prescreen the 2nd season of the Hallmark Channel's original series, When Calls The Heart. I've watched the first 2 episodes and they were charming!  The characters are wonderful!  The series is inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West.  Alas, I don't have cable so I'll be doing my best to stream the series wherever I can find it.

When Calls the Heart” tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coalmining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton who believes Thatcher’s wealthy father has doomed the lawman’s career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.

Moulin Roty's Cinema Box #ToyGiveaway

Pass the popcorn! Moulin Roty's Cinema Box captures the spirit of open-ended play that engages, encourages and enhances young imaginations.  Imported from France by Magicforest, the enchanting let's-show-a-movie kit is designed for kiddos 3 and up.  Our friends came over, my little girl made up a story to go along with one of the 4 included shows, and passed out tickets.  The only drawback is that the "screen" is very small (about 8x10) so if you've got a lot of atendees, it's quite hard for all the little heads to see (this was our predicament--we had about 9 in the "audience" during our first showing).  It's also a bit hard to get the flashlight to project without a blurred image but we found that if you turn it all the way to the left, it's perfect.  I'd recommend this for sibling viewing, as it most easily accommodates 2-4 kiddos.  It's a neat toy and it definitely inspires creativity!  I'd love to see the same thing available for projecting on the wall with larger images!

My Dog Eats Soup! Caru Pet Food is Delicious

Special thanks to the wonderful people at CARU for providing us with this review and giveaway opportunity!  All opinions are honest and our own.

"Hey, where's Lucy?" my little boy asked.

"She's eating her soup," was his sister's reply.

I had to laugh.  My dog is spoiled.  She eats soup.

Apparently people can eat CARU pet food, too--it's not only natural, it's human grade. Everyone who works at CARU has eaten their stew.  Now that is backing up your words with actions!  Their dog treats, though they smell like beef jerky, are not human grade, so I didn't feed any to my husband. One of the girls who works for the company always makes a point of eating the stew to show people how good it is when they're at tradeshows.  Her coworker just rolls his eyes at her and tells her to make sure she trims her tail!

Cutesie poochie patiently waiting!

Pamela, the one who sent Lucy her soups and treats, and I had a giggle or two as we swapped our dog food stories!  When I was in high school, I came home one night to see my brother eating what looked like a bowl of stew.  There was an open dog food can on the counter along with a dirty pot on the stove.  When he put his bowl in the sink, I said, "Did you just eat dog food?!"  Yep.  He did.  And he enjoyed every bit. That's what can happen when you combine a company who doesn't put a big picture of a dog on their can of stew and a hungry teenager!  Pretty sure if it had been CARU, he would've enjoyed it even more. ;)

GIVEAWAY
One of my readers will win a selection of CARU dog food and treats for her pooch... or her self!  ;)  Enter below by April 11th at 11 pm anyone's time.  Good luck!
