The kids and I had so much fun making a delicious Jambalaya recipe last night using Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice! Have you heard of Uncle Ben's Beginners? Their ambition is to get kids to cook. They're even giving back to schools with a chance to win a cafeteria makeover in a Ben's Beginners contest (sign up for that at Uncle Ben's Beginners) plus tons of Wal-Mart gift cards (entry form below)! So get the family into the kitchen on Oct 15th for International Cook with Your Kids Day to show them how fun cooking together can be... and read on to find out how you can win! |
Before you get to cookin', grab this discount for .75 off Ready Rice at Wal-Mart using Ibotta. Don't use Ibotta? I didn't either until last week and I've already received my first rebate via paypal from them for $21.75! It's an awesome app and super easy to use. I added it to my phone just for the purpose of using the coupon and then ended up saving a ton on other groceries I always buy. It's my new favorite thing! You have got to try Ibotta and you'll get $10 free just for signing up and using your first coupon! |
And now for the recipe!
Gather the ingredients. You'll need:
- Uncle Ben's Ready Rice: Red Beans & Rice
- Small tomato or handful of cherry tomatoes
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 green pepper
- 1/2 red onion
- olive oil
- Cajun Style Andouille Smoked Sausage
Dice your veggies and slice half the sausage. |
Heat oil in a large saute pan. Add onion, pepper, and tomato until onions are soft and brown. |
Add garlic and sausage to vegetables and cook until sausage has browned. |
Stir in rice (be careful--the package is hot! I used oven mitts) and mix everything together. Voila! A gourmet meal in 10 minutes... and your kids helped! |
