The Traveling Sisterhood: A New, Delicious Tomato Sauce and Easy Cheese Sticks Recipe

A New, Delicious Tomato Sauce and Easy Cheese Sticks Recipe

Uncle Steve's tomato sauces sounded perfect for my pasta-loving family so I couldn't wait to try them with some of my favorite dishes... along with some new ones!  Just as I expected from the rave reviews I had read, the sauces are delicious!  First, we tried the classic sauce with some noodles topped with melted mozzarella.  Next, we tried the sauce with Barilla's sausage stuffed tortellini.  We topped it with the sauce and mozzarella--the cheesier the better!  I found this recipe on Pinterest, so I just had to try it with these cheese sticks, too.

Uncles Steve's also sells some beautiful gift packages comprised solely of authentic, award-winning foods such as delicious Uncle Steve’s organic artisan tomato sauce and Pasta di Stigliano imported from Tuscany. Artfully arranged alongside an elegant stainless steel colander, these fantastic choices make a flawless gift that’s as pleasing to the eye as it will be to the palate.  They'd be perfect for a housewarming or wedding gift!  So unique and delicious.

Uncle Steve’s can be found in the Organic Secection of Stop & Shop, Giant, Martin’s and Shaws.  If you don't have any of those stores nearby, you can get it on-line.  They have free shipping through the end of August!

Now for the recipe!  I saw this one on Pinterest and wanted to try it--made with string cheese!  You need:

16 string cheese sticks
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups panko crumbs
1 Tbsp. dried parsley
A dash of Salt and pepper
Canola oil for frying

Unwrap cheese sticks and cut them in half. Using three bowls for dipping, place the flour in a bowl. Beat the eggs with the milk in a 2nd bowl and then in a 3rd bowl the panko crumbs, parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Now start to dip the cheese sticks. First in the flour, then egg and finally panko.

Place them on a cookie sheet and freeze for 20-30 min.  Next, heat a few inches of the canola oil in a wok or large deep frying pan. Place sticks in the oil and fry to golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan. Fry them in batches. Drain on a paper towel lined plate. Serve with Uncle Steve's Marinara Sauce immediately. We all loved this one. Enjoy!!

Special thank to the wonderful people at Uncle Steve's for this review opportunity!
