Rock 'N Learn is a really awesome program!  They have so many DVDs and CDs in any subject you can think of.  Last year, we used these Science DVDs and I based each month's theme around Life Science, Human Body, Earth Science, and Physical Science.  The DVDs were the perfect supplement to tie everything together in an entertaining way.

During the Life Science theme, we hatched Painted Lady butterflies and set them free. It was amazing!

We also hatched Ladybugs which was a learning experience for everyone, including me!  Did you know that baby ladybugs are cute, little black insects with yellow stripes that look nothing like a ladybug, not to mention a beetle?!

What I really loved about the Rock N Learn Science set was that it gave me a launching pad for Science last year.  My kiddos are very hands-on and I couldn't afford an expensive curriculum.  Using these DVDs, some really cool science kits and free field trips, along with free printable worksheets on-line was ideal!

During the Earth Science unit, we took a field trip to the Gem and Mineral museum, smashed open geodes, and made rock candy sugar crystals.
